"Favourite Spots in Milan" by Carlo Pastore
19/02/2019Carlo Pastore, DJ and Music director at Senato Hotel Milano, chose some spots linked to music and architecture for our guests to enjoy the city as a local.
Your name:
My name is Carlo.
Milanese by birth or "adoption"?
I've been living in Milan for 14 years, but I've always kept a provincial soul.
If you had to take us on a tour of the city, where would you start?
Here's a tour that I'd like to recommend. Starting from Conca del Naviglio, behind the Darsena, you walk down via Scaldasole, through Corso di Porta Ticinese, and then turn right. On the left you'll find yourself in front of the Basilica of Sant'Eustorgio, stop for a quick look and then walk a little further to find Serendeepity, the best record store in town for those who love electronic music and who want to discover all the best new contemporary releases.
As a DJ, do you have any good advice for our Senato Hotel friends?
Search well, do "digging", choose a vinyl and listen to it before buying it, the shop has a record player available for the customers to use.
Perfect... Shall we continue the tour?
Sure! Go up on the Corso towards Colonne di San Lorenzo - if you've never seen them look at them even though they are now a fairly commercial jumble of shops and bars without great personality - and take the bus 94 to go to the Senato Hotel Milano.
What do you recommend to see in the neighborhood of our Hotel?
Near the Policlinico di Milano there are the Guastalla Gardens, my favorites, together with the Montanelli gardens and the wonderful Giardino della Villa Belgiojoso Bonaparte. Choose one of these three gardens, put on headphones / airpods / earphones and turn on the Senato Hotel Milano playlists on Spotify: I recommend the Breakfast or the Café, ""awakening"" and ""contemplation"" are the best music choice to enjoy in this kind of place.
Ok, now that we are perfectly relaxed, where next?
Finally, after taking a deep breath, make plans to meet your favorite people for a drink at the Senato Caffè Dehors. I recommend an Italian Gin & Tonic with Grifu Pilloni, which presents interesting hints of Mediterranean botanicals.
Ok, ora siamo perfettamente rilassati. E ora?
