Sebastião Salgado - Amazônia

Sebastiao Salgado's Amazonia at the Fabbrica del Vapore with over 200 photographs.
The photographic exhibition Amazonia by Sebastiao Salgado, curated by Lélia Wanick Salgado, will be held until 19 November 2023 at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan.
Over two hundred photographs depicting the vegetation, rivers, mountains and people who populate the Brazilian Amazon will be exhibited: an immersion in the forest accompanied by the audio track composed especially for the exhibition by the French musician Jean-Michel Jarre.
“My desire, with all my heart, with all my energy, with all the passion that I possess, is that in fifty years time this exhibition will not resemble a testimony of a lost world,” Salgado points out. “The Amazon must continue to live and always have its indigenous inhabitants in its heart.”

The exhibition develops around two themes. The first consists of photographs of landscape settings, the second is dedicated to the 12 indigenous groups that Salgado has immortalized in his numerous travels.
The visit to the exhibition is accompanied by an immersive audio track that brings the sounds of the rainforest to life with a real symphony of the world composed of the concrete sounds of the forest. An absolute novelty is the Amazônia Touch initiative, the first photographic volume conceived and designed for the blind and visually impaired.
At the Fabbrica del Vapore, for the first time, a book will be available to visitors offering access to photographs of the Amazon forest and its indigenous communities thanks to tactile images created on brass plates.
